Farmers' Market not coming to Amityville this year

The weather is getting warmer and thoughts of the Amityville Farmers' Market are returning.  Unfortunately, the Market itself will not.

The Amityville Market is taking a hiatus this year.  There are many markets close by who compete for vendors.  While the farmers and favorite vendors were prepared to return, other reputable, licensed, quality vendors weren’t ready to commit to join them.

However, the sponsor, Bay Village Civic Association, is optimistic and working with the Market manager to have it return bigger and better next year.  With gratitude to the Hutchesons, and the wonderful volunteers who made the Market a positive experience, the Committee is making plans now for an enlarged Amityville Market in 2015.

The BVCA thanks everyone for their support and hopes you will continue to patronize other Farmers' Markets.  FYI, Teddy from Thera Farms expects to be at the Farmingdale Market on Sundays from 10 A.M. - 3 P.M.  It is on Main St. in Farmingdale, on the Village Green, next to Farmingdale Village Hall.

In the five years since the BVCA first brought a Farmer's Market to Amityville, markets have opened on weekends in Seaford and Babylon as well as Farmingdale and Deer Park.  There's a lot of competition.  While the Market is taking a break this year, changes are coming.  A new venue is being pursued, as well as other possibilities.

The Bay Village Civic Association represents the residents of the Village of Amityville.  It will continue to promote Amityville as the special place that it is.  Continue to visit and shop Amityville.
