Veterans Programs Sunday
The Town of Babylon and Assemblyman Bob Sweeney will kickoff Veterans Awareness Week with a program this Sunday, November 3, 11am at Babylon Town Hall, 200 E. Sunrise Hwy., Lindenhurst.
Veterans Awareness Week, created by a NYS Assembly Resolution sponsored by Assemblyman Sweeney, seeks to focus attention on veterans in the week leading up to Veterans Day.
The November 3rd program will recognize:
- Students from Deer Park, Lindenhurst, and Wyandanch who won an essay contest on the subject of “How Do We Say Thank You to our Veterans?”
- Five Veterans from Lindenhurst and Copiague will receive the New York State Medal for Merit, NYS Conspicuous Service Star, and/ or NYS Conspicuous Service Cross.
- Korean War Veteran George Walters of Lindenhurst will receive his high school diploma as part of New York is Operation Recognition, for veterans who left high school early to join the service.
