Though Bode started on the Pole, he didn’t gain the honor by setting fast time in Time Trials. That man was Justin Bonsignore, who later would draw the eighth starting spot on the grid out of a hat.
The modified pilots then put on a show worthy of the three men whose names are attached to this race, three of the greatest to strap into a modified on the East Coast. The win was Bode’s second in two weeks and he was also the winner of this very race in 2012. As an added perk, the driver of the #96 padded his Riverhead Raceway Modified Division points lead.
In what will go down as a night of some of the closest racing ever witnessed in all divisions, Ron Langdon was awarded the Blunderbust win even though it looked like Tom Pickerell took the low line
Chris Turbush and Ray Minieri waged a door handle to door handle battle for much of the Charger event, with Minieri getting the win.
In an event labeled “too close” by track announcer Bob Finan, Figure 8 drivers Tom Ferrara and John Vullo played too rough with their machines, giving Scott Pedersen the win.
Finally, Kyle Soper earned the INEX Legends win in a very entertaining event.
