3-Alarm blaze in Amityville
A large, two-story house on Locust Avenue in Amityville was destroyed by a fast-moving early morning fire Fri., Nov. 2. When firefighters arrived at 3:50 a.m. they found the entire house engulfed in a blaze that was being fed by propane. The residents had escaped uninjured and despite the best efforts of Amityville VAMPS, who were assisted by the North Amityville Fire Company and the Copiague and Lindenhurst fire departments, the house was a complete loss. Sections of it collapsed during as firefighters were battling the fire.
Despite that, there were no reported injuries and the cause is under investigation, it was reported that the power to that area had just been restored before the fire.
