Resolution At a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Amityville Public Library, Town of Babylon, County of Suffolk and Town of Oyster Bay, County of Nassau, New York, held at the Amityville Library, corner of John Street and Oak Street, Amityville, New York on the 20th day of January, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. prevailing time. The meeting was called to order by Trustee Lawrence Brennan. The following were present: LAWRENCE BRENNAN SALVATORE SPIZZIRRI MARY BETH SCAROLA EILEEN TAYLOR The following resolution was offered by Trustee Salvatore Spizzirri, who moved its adoption, seconded by Trustee Eileen Taylor, to wit: WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Trustees of the Amityville Public Library to hold a Special District Meeting of the Amityville Union Free School District for the purpose of voting upon the Library budget, the Infrastructure and Energy Capital Project and electing one (1) Trustee to the Board of Trustees of the Amityville Public Library. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Trustees of the Amityville Public Library, Town of Babylon, Suffolk County and Town of Oyster Bay, Nassau County, New York, as follows: Section 1. That a Special District Meeting of the qualified voters of the Amityville Union Free School District shall be held at the Amityville Public Library, corner of John Street and Oak Street, Amityville, New York, in said school district on the 5th day of April, 2011 at 12:00 noon, prevailing time, upon the Budget of the Amityville Public Library. Voting will be by ballot on voting machines or by paper ballot, if voting machines are not available. Polls for the purpose of voting will be kept open between the hours of 12:00 noon and 9:00 o’clock P.M., prevailing time. Section 2. That the proposition to be voted upon shall be in the following form: PROPOSITIONS Shall the following propositions be adopted: RESOLVED, that the school district library budget, as proposed by the Library Trustees in accordance with section 259 of the Education Law, shall be approved. RESOLVED, that the Infrastructure and Energy Capital Project, as proposed by the Library Trustees in accordance with the Education Law, shall be approved. Section 3. That at said Special District Meeting to be held on April 5, 2011, there shall be elected one (1) Trustee of the Board of Trustees of the Amityville Public Library. The term of the one (1) such Trustee to run for the period July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2016. Section 4. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that a statement of the estimated library expenses for the school year 2011/2012 will be available and copies of such statement may be obtained at the library and each school in the district daily except Saturday and Sunday on and after March 29, 2011 between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that candidates for the office of Trustee of the Board of Trustees of the Amityville Public Library shall be nominated by petition. Petitions nominating candidates for the office of trustee of the Board of Trustees must be filed with the clerk of the school district between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. no later than March 7, 2011. Forms of petition may be obtained from the clerk of the school district. The following vacancy is to be filled for library trustee: one (1) five year term ending June 30, 2016. Each petition must be directed to the clerk of the district, must be signed by at least twenty-five (25) voters of the district or two percent (2%) of the voters who voted in the last annual school district election, whichever is greater; shall state the residence of the candidate and must describe the position for which the candidate is nominated. NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that pursuant to section 2014 of the Education Law, personal registration of voters is required and no person shall be entitled to vote at said meeting and election whose name does not already appear on the register of said school district, or who does not register as hereinafter provided, except as may otherwise be provided by the laws of the State of New York.
