Shoppers robbed outside Westfiled Mall, Massapequa
POLICE SEEK PUBLIC'S HELP

Two incidents of shoppers being assaulted after leaving the Westfiled Sunrise Mall were reported by police this week.
In the first incident, a shopper was leaving the mall at approximately 6:15 a.m., Dec. 23 after purchasing a pair of sneakers. The shopper was approached by a male who ripped the bag from the victim’s hands and fled in a 2000 Toyota. As the victim was writing down the plate number, the suspect came back and hit the victim on the head, causing him to fall down. The assailant fled again.
Yesterday, at approximately Thursday December 30, 8:35 p.m., a 51-year-old female got into her automobile that was parked in the lot of Sunrise Mall. While the driver’s side door was still open, an assailant grabbed the victim’s arm and pocketbook. In the process the victim’s ar struck the door post.
The subject then fled the scene on foot with victim’s pocketbook, which contained cash and personal papers. The woman was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for a broken arm.
In both incidents the assailant was described as a black male, with a medium build wearing a black hoodie and dark colored jacket.
