An Amityville Village Police officer sustained minor injuries in a scuffle with a subject who was wanted in Suffolk County. Police gave this account:

On Aug, 17, after having been advised that a subject, Adam S. Cobb, 38, was wanted by Suffolk police for rape and grand larceny and was in the Amityville area, APO Collin Mullin observed him at the Sunoco gasoline station and general store at 293 Broadway, shortly before midnight, Aug. 17. Mullin entered the store, identified himself as a police officer and advised Cobb that he was under arrest. Collin, with the assistance of APOs Joseph Slack and Jeffrey Sears, attempted to make the arrest but Cobb fled to the back of the store where he attempted to flee out the back door. Mullin used his taser to stop him, but did not make a full connection. He followed that up with a stun gun, which was successful in subduing Cobb. Following a brief struggle, during which Cobb continued to struggle with police, Cobb was handcuffed and taken into police custody.

During the struggle, Slack came into contact with the probe wires from the taser, which caused him to fall to one knee and sustain some pain and redness. His injuries were not serious.

Cobb was taken first to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was treated and released. He was transferred to the Suffolk County Police Department’s First Precinct and released to Det. Stephen Mullen.

The case against Cobb, who has no permanent address, stems from an incident that took place July 19 in Wyandanch. Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said the case against Cobb is still under investigation.
