Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a burglary by two armed men at an occupied home in North Amityville. They gave this account:

Mildred Smith was in her home at 11 Somerset Road North, when the side door was kicked open at 10:35 p.m., Aug. 7 and she was confronted by two men, who were both armed with handguns. The men stole cash and a cell phone and fled through the rear of the property. Smith, 41, was not injured.

One suspect was described as black, approximately 6 feet tall with a bald head and was wearing a dark-colored T-shirt and carrying a silver handgun. The other suspect was described as black, approximately 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall with black hair and was wearing a white T-shirt and carrying a black handgun.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
