History was made and records were shattered, as Walter G. O’Connell Copiague High School senior Tyrek English became the first Copiague student to win the State Champion High Jump title. With a leap of six feet, eight inches, English worked his way into the record books as the 2010 New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) High Jump State Champion.
