Cousins receive sports award

Amityville seniors Bonnie Siry and Gavin Kretz were recognized with the Dellecave Award at the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame annual brunch June 6. Theevent was held at the West Lake Inn in Patchogue. Bonnie and Gavin, who are cousins, were nominated for the award by Anthony Cerullo. Butch Dellecave was an educator and counselor in the Connetquot Central School District for 30 years, a top-rated basketball official and the driving force behind the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame. The Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame, in conjunction with Newsday Sports, established this award and others to honor outstanding male and female athletes chosen from Suffolk County High Schools.
