•The Harbor Lane Library offers the following ongoing programs: aerobics and toning classes on Mondays, 7:30 p.m.; tournament Scrabble, Mondays, 11 a.m.; Let’s Talk, a discussion group for seniors, Fridays, 1 p.m.; strength training classes, Mondays, 10:30 a.m. and/or Thursday, 10 a.m.; Mah Jongg, Tuesdays, 2 p.m., line dancing instruction, Fridays, 10:30 a.m. and space to play chess, for all ages and levels, Fridays, 2 p.m.
•On Thurs., May 27, 2 p.m. the Harbor Lane Library will present a lecture by Robert Cohen entitled American-Jewish Music and African- American Music: Shared Visions and Dreams.
•Both locations of the Massapequa Public Library will be closed for Memorial Day on Sun., May 30 and Mon., May 31.

•On Thurs May 27, 7 p.m. attorney Carol Ryder will discuss various topics in animal law that are of interest to pet lovers including the Animal Lemon Law, veterinary malpractice, how to avoid and/or deal with animal lemon law and veterinary malpractice situations, animal law ordinances, how to handle what happens if your dog is involved in a “Dangerous Dog” proceeding and basic information on animal abuse laws in New York. Registration is underway.
•The movie Young Victoria will be shown Tues., June 1, 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Doors open one half-hour in advance.
•The poetry group will meet Wed., June 2, 7 to 9 p.m.
