America needs to pay attention to those who are undermining the Constitution
Dear Editor:
In Charles Litwin’s rebuttal to my letter of Feb. 3, he began somewhat in agreement with me. He then went on to explain why the A.C.L.U. exists and how they protect the Constitution’s Bill of Rights. He went on with a lot of rhetoric about equal protection and the right to privacy, etc.
I am well aware of all those who are deviating from our original Constitution, the A.C.L.U. included. America is not without flaws, but it is still the greatest republic in the world. We were founded by people who were much smarter than the people in power today. By the way, the people who founded our great nation were true believers in the freedom of “God and Country.” Theyleft their countries to start anew, away from the tyranny of their governments.
Today, there exists within our borders people who want to destroy all that we have achieved by attacking our religious freedoms. The 10 Commandments, prayer in school, the Boy Scouts of America, “One nation under God” in our pledge of allegiance to the flag of our country. Why would the A.C.L.U. not rebuke such attacks?
If the A.C.L.U. would like to become heroes in the eyes of our countrymen, I suggest that they find out why the Tides Foundation claims that a new generation will come to power more informed than their parents. Why would they suggest a “Pledge of Allegiance to the Earth?”
Why would the federal government condone the rewriting of American history in all school text books? Isn’t that what Adolf Hitler did before the start of World War II?
Pay attention America. God help us if you don’t.
