Lou Howard of Amityville to be honored by F’dale College Alumni
Lou Howard, a former chair of the Farmingdale State College Aviation Department will be honored as Alumnus of the Year at the College’s Alumni Awards Dinner on Fri., March 26, at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. Howard, a long-time resident of Amityville, the former legendary coach at Amityville High School, and a former Suffolk County Legislator, will be honored with the Aviation Pioneer Award. He will be joined by five other alumni and corporate honorees at the affair, which is expected to attract 250 guests to the aviation-themed event.
Among the others to be honored is Lou Scala, also of Amityville. Scala has been an aviation faculty member since 1982 and developed the airport management and air cargo management curriculums. He will be honored as an Outstanding Alumni Supporter. Other awardees are Warren D. Kroeppel (aerosapce technology, ’74), an aviation executive and flight safety advocate; Theresia H. Schatz (aerospace technology, ’81) and Elaine Thompson (advertising art and design, ’63) as Outstanding Alumna; and SheltAir Group as Outstanding Employee Partner.
