Children, 12 years of age or younger, can now register for a free health club membership at Sunrise Health & Racquet when at least one adult signs up for membership.
“This family club has always cared for the well being of the children of the community and due to cutbacks in our schools, physical education programs have suffered,” said Tom Sheehan, general manager of Sunrise Health & Racquet. “We are seeing increasing obesity levels and health issues in children, and this is our opportunity to help.”
The program, Sunrise Beginnings, is designed for youngsters 7-12. Children learn how to use equipment that is specially designed and engineered for them.
The club also offers Junior Racquetball at no charge. Children are given a 30-minute lesson and are taught fundamentals by a professional. Theyalso have a 30-minute free play session.
Mommie and Me classes and a nursery are also available at no cost.
All of this programming and access to the facilities is at no charge when a child joins with an adult. For more information, call 516-795-5000 or go to www. Sunrisehealthclub.com. Sunrise Health & Racquet is at 6000 Sunrise Highway, Massapequa, across from the Westfield Mall.
