St. Martin of Tours School in Amityville was recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as an Energy Star building. Thanks to the efforts

of Ed Moore, one of the parents at the school, Keith Mainhart the parish outreach director, and Pastor Rick Stelter, the special recognition was received from the EPA. The award indicates that those involved in running the school have identified ways to decrease energy consumption and installed energy efficient products.

Each year, St. Martin’s school puts on a gala celebration; one of this year’s honorees, Peter Casserly, Deputy Mayor of Amityville, and Sister Catherine Stare, Assistant Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Rockville Centre, joined in the presentation of the award to Mrs. Kathleen Razzetti, Principal of St. Martin of Tours School. Principal Razzetti said, “We are proud of the efforts that have been taken by our school and parish to follow the Holy Father, Pope Benedict’s initiatives in preserving our world.”
