Amityville Womens Club celebrates annual Christmas Luncheon
The Amityville Women’s Club held its annual Christmas luncheon, Dec. 8, 2009 at Southward Ho Country Club. President Maryann Costa greeted close to 100 guests. Barbara Lozier, hostess and first vice president, welcomed everyone. Grace was said by Lore Waegerle and Rachel Erath then led the Pledge of Allegiance. A few announcements were made followed by a meal provided by the club.
The chair of the organizations philanthropies committee, Marilyn Brous, held a raffle for two tickets to the Long island Philharmonic along with two “stocking stuffers.” Thestocking stufferswere won by Jane Linehan and June Jahn. Long Island Philharmonic tickets were won by Joyce Sabello. Ethel MacGill, chair of the community services committee collected warm hats and mittens to be distributed to students in the Amityville School District.
Entertainment was provided by Castorina and Rose. Charles Castorina played the keyboard and integrated the orchestral sounds and Betty Rose sang a wide range of songs, including music fit to the season. She also invited members of the club to come up and be her “Rockette” line. There were six ladies who joined the first group and even more who participated for the finale.
