Be a hero today; donate blood
2010-02-03 / Opinion
Every year about this time, the supply of blood that is vitally needed to save lives runs low. As a result of the busy holiday season, and all of the accidents and other problems that arise as people rush about, the demand for blood generally exceeds what is available. Now is the time for you to donate.
You can do it if you are 18 years-of-age or older and in good health. Or, you can put together a group of blood donors at work, within your community or fraternal organization. Either way, your efforts will save lives. Good Samaritan Hospital is holding a blood drive Tues., Feb. 23. You can call them for information or to schedule an appointment at 631-376-4444. Or, call the Long Island Blood Services. Theycan give you information on the nearest donor location. They can be reached at 516-478-5060. Do it now.
