Amityville resident Theodore “Teddy” Adams, Jr., died Jan. 4, 2010 after an illness at New Island Hospital, Bethpage. The 58-year-old was a parishioner at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Copiague and the church’s webmaster. “Teddy will be sorely missed for his both his (computer) knowledge and being a wonderful congregant,” said Rev. Stanley Gordon Smith of Bethel Church. “He loved the church and did as much as he could whether it was with the website or something else.” H e was born Jan. 17, 1951 in Augusta, Georgia to Theodore and Ethel (Jones) Adams and was a graduate of Clinton Community and C.W. Post Colleges and Suburban Technical Institute. A computer technology major, he was dubbed “the wizard” at his job at Securities Industry Automation Corp. where he developed programs used in the New York Stock Exchange. In addition to computers and fishing, he loved to spend time with his family and friends. Mr. Adams leaves behind his son, Jameson Wesley; his grandsons, Jameson Wesley, Jr., Christian Jamal and Aaron Eliyah. His parents, Ethel J. and Theodore also survive him as do his siblings, Beverly (Patty) Simpkins, Deborah Callier, Cheryl Burwell and Karl; his brothers-in-law, William Louis Callier and Brad Burwell; his aunts, Betty Brown of Augusta, Georgia; Edna Mackie of Augusta; Arnita Lampkins of Augusta; Katie Francheschi of Atlanta; Elisabeth Collins of Decatur and Dorothy Washington of Hempstead; his companion, Mattie Council, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends . Pastor Stanley Gordon Smith of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Copiague, officiated at the funeral service in the church followed by interment in Amityville Cemetery.
