Babylon Town Tax Receiver, Corinne DiSomma, stated that 2009/2010 first half taxes are due and payable in her office at 200 East Sunrise Highway, Lindenhurst, on or before January 10, 2010. Since January 10th is on a Sunday this year, there will be no penalty if paid by Monday, January 11, 2010. (Full payments will also be accepted at this time.) Partial payments will be accepted with penalty pursuant to Resolution #551-2001. For your convenience, Discover card is accepted for payment of taxes in person or by mail. Credit card payment will be accepted through a telephone service by calling 1-800-2PAY-TAX (1-800-272-9829) or visit the website at www.officialpayments.com. At the prompt, use Jurisdiction Code 4232. (Credit card service fee will be incurred by cardholder.) Theofficehours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Town Hall will be closed on December 31, 2009 and January 1, 2010 for the holiday. Anyone paying taxes by mail, pursuant to Real Property Tax Law S 925 – will avoid penalty and interest if the envelope bears proper postage and an officialpost officedate stamp – (a private postage meter stamp is not acceptable) – no later than the last day to pay in person. Deposit in a local post office will not insure a postmark on that date. Check with your local postmaster prior to mailing. If you pay your taxes directly to the Town and have not received a bill, please contact the Tax OfficeRecord Room immediately at 957-3001.
