The Town of Babylon hosted the Long Island Run for Warriors this month, honoring the country’s wounded veterans. The event is sponsored by the national, not-for-profit organization, Help for Warriors and funds raised help service members, and their families.

Theevent began with an opening ceremony to honor those injured in Iraq and Afghanistan. Babylon Town Supervisor Steve Bellone made opening remarks in front of Town Hall where the race began and a Marine Color Guard presented colors. The event included a 10K, 5K and one-mile run/walk as well as The First Reponders Challenge and Team Challenge. All fire, police and other first responders were invited to compete.
