Voters must become informed about the need for health-care reform
Dear Editor:
We hope people read the Public Commentary of Brian L. Vogel, M.D. that appeared in the Oct. 1, 2009 edition of this newspaper. All the reasons for health reforms he mentions are for the benefit of the people. The insurance companies are spending millions of dollars to run a campaign of misinformation and have a great number of lobbyists twisting the arms of the congressmen and senators. These insurance companies contribute thousands of dollars to their campaigns and political parties.
It is easy to see the billions of dollars that the insurance companies make. The money comes from those who pay to be insured with those companies and from Medicare who pays these companies for those over 65 years of age.
Insurance companies take money from the people and the government. Insurance executives make millions in salaries, plus they receive huge bonuses each year. All that money is from you, the people. How, then, can anyone be opposed to health-care reform?
I suggest that every voter take the time to learn about the Health-Care Reform plan, which we need now.
