Kay Gino: former Amityville resident and St. Martin’s parishioner

Former longtime Amityville resident Catherine “Kay” Rita Gino died of natural causes Sept. 16, 2009 at her home in Smithville, Texas. She was 94.

She was born May 24, 1915 and had lived in Amityville for many years. She was an active member of the community and was a member of the Woman’s Club, Amityville Senior Citizens Club and the Tanner Park Seniors Club. Mrs. Gino was a devoted member of St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church who spent many years cooking for the priests.

According to her family and friends, she was a true mother, who welcomed everyone into her heart and touched deeply anyone who met her.

Mrs. Gino leaves behind her daughters: Barbara Sparke and Carol; her grandchildren: Daniel Costlow, Teri Griswold, Jennifer Pereira and Christopher Sparke; her great grandchildren: Jessica, Shari, Thomas and Ashley Griswold, and Noah Pereira; and her great granddaughter: Alexandra Wani; and other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas.

A graveside service was held at St. Mary’s Church in Smithville, Texas. A Memorial will be held in Amityville at a later date.
