Ann Reale: member of the Amityville Woman’s Club, loving mother and wife

Longtime Amityville resident Ann S. Reale died Sept. 7, 2009 at her Peppermill Lane home. She was 83.

She was born Feb. 10, 1926 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to George and Ruth (Trench) Sutherland. Mrs. Reale had lived in Douglaston, Queens before moving into the new Peppermill Lane development.

She dedicated her life to caring for her home and family and was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and a 65-year member of the Amityville Woman’s Club.

Mrs. Reale leaves behind her husband Gene; her children, Roger A. Young and his wife Peggy of Wilmington, North Carolina, Donald S. Young and his wife Christine of Braintree, Massachusetts, Jeffrey T. Young and his wife Joanne of Copiague, and Joan Y. Hughes and her husband Timothy of Cordova, Tennessee. Nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren also survive her as does her brother: George Sutherland. She was predeceased by her first husband, Roger Young.

Private cremation followed by Memorial visitation and a Memorial Service officiated by TheReverend Dr. Louise Stowe-Johns, pastor, First United Methodist Church was held at Powell Funeral Home, Amityville. Interment of cremains was in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Donations in Mrs. Reale’s name can be sent to Good Shepherd Hospice, 245 Old Country Rd., Melville, New York 11747.
