A vehicle heading north on Route 110, was rear ended by a van at approximately 4:30 p.m., Thurs., Oct. 1, driven by a young male. • Verner B. Unger, longtime Amityville resident, served in the U.S. Navy as Captain
Longtime Amityville resident Verner B. Unger died Aug. 28, 2009 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was 72 and had lived on Purdy Lane. He was born Feb. 5, 1937 in Copenhagen, Denmark to John and Margarethe (Jensen) Unger. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1961 to 1964, after which he served 40 additional years in the U.S. Naval Reserves reaching the rank of captain. More...
