Amityville resident named as honoree for SBPLI Inc. awards gala
Veronica Henry
Dr. Veronica Henry is the executive assistant to the president at Farmingdale State College. Prior to this role, Dr. Henry
was the dean/executive director of the Long Island Educational Opportunity Center and a professor in the nursing department at Farmingdale State University of New York. Dr. Henry was director of Project
CARE, a program that provided after-school tutoring for students, as well as a summer institute in mathematics, science, college-survival skills, and technology at Farmingdale State University. Additionally, Dr. Henry is devoted to many community groups and causes. She is a member of the American Cancer Society Network, the American Heart Association, and “Take Wellness Heart.” She spearheads conferences on heart disease and the early detection of cancer in minority communities.
Presented by SBPLI, Inc., the 60 honorees were selected based on the positive, tangible contributions that they have made to Long Island in all fields and industries including, but not limited to, business, education, health care, arts, entertainment, public service and technology. The over Sixty Awards Gala will raise funds for SBPLI-LI FIRST’s Robotics Competition program. ThisLong Island Regional Competition, part of a national program challenges teams of students and mentors while teaching them teamwork, confidence, leadership, and many other work skills.
