Copiague resident Robert “Bob” C. Schultheiss died suddenly July 31, 2009 at his Scudder Avenue home. He was 55 and lived in the Amityville and Copiague communities for the last eight years. He was born Aug. 4, 1953 in Queens to Carl and Emma “Connie” (nee Harold) and spent much of his life in Levittown. A Nassau Community College graduate, he worked in a printing business in Manhattan for many years.

“Bob was just so smart and knowledgeable,” said his friend of 37 years, Tom Small of Amityville. “He’d do the New York Times crossword puzzle in ink, and he knew so much from reading.” According to his loved ones, he was a self-taught passionate cook who loved to play golf, go camping and write poetry. He was a lifelong New York Islanders fan and a member of the Amityville Club. Mr. Schultheiss leaves behind his son: Bryan of Scranton, Pennsylvania; his parents Carl and Emma of Dunnellon, Florida; his sisters, Patricia Biss and her husband Cary of Charlestown, West Virginia, Valerie Kuramoto and her husband Steve of Ithaca, New York and Carol Cavallini and her husband Lucio of Verona, Italy. Rev. Father Richard T. Stelter, pastor of St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church, Amityville, conducted a prayer service at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville. A private cremation followed.
