Estee Harris hit his second grand slam of the season against Newark, Sunday, June 14.

The Ducks won, 17-6, and swept the veteran-stacked Bears. At press-time, the Ducks were 26- 23 and in second place in the Atlantic League's Liberty Division.

Against Newark, Juan Francia hit his team-leading fifth triple of the season, Alex Prieto hit a home run for the third consecutive game and every Ducks' batter recorded a hit, including Prieto and Lew Ford, who had three each.

Player spotlight: Lew Ford

Originally selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 1999 Major League Baseball Draft, Ford reached national recognition as a member of the Minnesota Twins from 2003-2007.

He has a .272 average, 32 home runs, 80 doubles, 10 triples and 47 stolen bases at the Major League level.

Last season he played for the Hanshin Tigers of the Japanese Central League, where he hit .225 with three home runs and seven doubles in 47 games.

This season, his first on Long Island, Ford is hitting .279 with three home runs and 22 RBI.

Erik Almonte, who played for the Ducks in 2006, is hitting .324 in 44 games with Triple-A Nashville of the Milwaukee's minor league system.

Former Ducks pitcher Damien Moss, who pitched for the Flock in 2006, is 5-2 with a 2.97 ERA for Triple-A Colorado Springs, a Colorado minor league affiliate.

Atlantic League bits and bites

A week after being named Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month, John Halama is going back to affiliated ball. The Atlanta Braves purchased his contract from Southern Maryland.

Lancaster's Jon Huber also had his contract purchased by the Braves. He is 1-0, with two saves and a 3.63 ERA this season.

York's Danny Sandoval's contract was purchased by the Colorado Rockies.

The New York Mets purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher and closer Jim Ed Warden from Southern Maryland.
