NY Conservatives ask President Obama to speak up for Iranian people

2009-06-24 / Opinion

Public Commentary
By Conservative Party State Chairman, Michael R. Long

I am urging all New Yorkers to contact President Barack Obama to encourage him to be supportive of the Iranian people who are risking everything by demonstrating against the recent elections.

It is no longer about the presidential elections, it is about change...changing an oppressive theocracy... and letting Iran reach its true potential through freedom. To watch the Iranian people beaten and subject to such extreme violence and to only ask the Iranian government to end the 'unjust' actions is simply un- American. America has been the beacon of freedom in the world since its birth and the fact that Iranian people are carrying signs in English clearly indicates they are seeking support from us.

I urge New Yorkers to contact President Obama at 202-456-1111 (or any of his favorite social sites like Twitter or Facebook, especially on these as the Iranians will be aware of our support) and tell him: America must support these brave, courageous Iranians.
