Amityville Boys Track Team captures league championship

The Amityville Memorial High School Varsity Boys Winter Track Team is having a spectacular run this season. The team's most recent feat came after Amityville competed against seven other high schools during the league championships at the Suffolk Community College Brentwood Campus . The team participated in multiple winter track events, including the 55-meter hurdles and 55-meter dash, the 300-meter dash and 600-meter run, the long jump, high jump and triple jump, the shot put and the 1600-meter relay. Some highlights of the meet included Sancho Barrett's first-place win in the 55-meter dash, Rashim Gaines's first-place finish in the 600-meter run, and Emmanuel Johnson's firstplace score in both the long jump and high jump. Victor Drew placed first in the triple jump, and the team of Brian Johnson, Shivanand Sohan, Sancho Barrett and Rashim Gaines won the 1600-meter relay. "Congratulations to the team and all of these fine young men on their accomplishments," said Principal Dr. Scott Andrews.
