Lois Huggler: Amity Harbor resident
In addition to caring for her home and family, she helped run the family business, Huggler Violins, Inc., on S. Wellwood Avenue in Lindenhurst for many years. An avid golfer who acquired many trophies, she served as president of both the Bethpage and the West Sayville Women's Golf Club. She was ecstatic to score her first hole in one on her birthday in 1974. Mrs. Huggler was instrumental in founding the Suffolk County Chapter for United Cerebral Palsy on Long Island in 1949 because her first-born son was afflicted with this handicap. According to her family, in her spare time she canned homegrown vegetables, jams and jellies for loved ones. Mrs. Huggler leaves behind her children: Ronald and his wife Francesca, Louise, Arthur and his wife Cathy, and Ralph; her grandchildren, Renee, Andrea, Gina, Jamie, Erick, Eleonor and Tina; her great grandchildren: Kate, Anthony, Josephine, Will and Harrison, also surrvived her. She was predeceased by her husband, William and her son, Robert.
She reposed at the Lindenhurst Funeral Home, Lindenhurst, on September 2 and 3, 2008 followed by private cremation.
