Marcia Besserman served the Chamber with distinction
Editorial

A story in this week's paper outlines the results of the recent election for the president in the Amityville Chamber of Commerce. After serving for 12 years, Marcia Besserman is stepping down and handing over the reins of the Chamber to John DiLiberto.

We could not let this week go by without commenting on the work Besserman has done on behalf of the Chamber and the community during her tenure. She has remained committed and dedicated, and has elevated the Chamber's presence in Amityville with programs such as the annual Family Night Out and the 9-11 Memorial Park.

Leading an organization, any organization, is never easy. While she has had a group of solid volunteers on her board and her membership helping out, the fact is that as in all organizations, the buck stops with the person in charge and Besserman has accepted that responsibility graciously.

We wish Marcia good luck and look forward to her continued support for Amityville. As a local businesswoman and former president of the Chamber, her good counsel should always be welcomed.
