All school board candidates earn our respect
Editorial

Every year as we wind up our extensive school board coverage for the 11 school districts we cover, we walk away from the process with a deeper and more profound appreciation for the citizens who choose to give up some of their free time and run for their school board. You may or may not agree with them, you may or may not vote for them, but you must acknowledge their willingness to be part of an important process and bring voters a choice.

In some school districts, there are no challengers and the individuals who have served and are running will get another three years to represent their communities.

In some districts, the challenges are strong. In those communities, residents should take time to review the candidates and their positions and make intelligent choices.

In any case, we would like to do what we do every year and extend a word of thanks to those who are running for these volunteer positions. Win or lose, they all have accomplished a great deal and should be commended for their willingness to serve. Remember to vote!
