AMHS Removed from “Schools in Need of Improvement” List

            The Amityville Public School District was notified by the New York State Education Department that after the mandated two years of continued performance improvement, the high school has been removed from the State’s “Schools in Need of Improvement” list.

 “This couldn’t have happened without the students who care about learning, and the teachers, who show that they care about the students and create a positive learning environment,” said AMHS Principal Dr. Scott Andrews.

             There have been major changes at the school over the past four years, including the addition of more courses in science and other areas.  Read more about this milestone for Amityville in this week's Record, on newsstands and in your mailbox on Wednesday.
