Northeast Elementary students celebrate Seuss

Students at Northeast Elementary School in the Amityville Public School District celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday with a month-long period of engaging activities that focused on reading, writing, and artistic creativity. Librarian Tina Smith, a.k.a. "The Cat in the Hat" was instrumental in planning and facilitating the month, which included readings of favorite Seuss stories, student created projects, such as hats, red bow ties, and Horton elephant ears, and the reenactment of favorite scenes from the Seuss tales that students know and love.

Shown in the photo, Amityville's Northeast Elementary School librarian Tina Smith, a.k.a "The Cat in the Hat" captured students' attention as she shared tales from Dr. Seuss to celebrate the author's birthday while immersing students in literacy and learning.
