The Edmund W. Miles Middle School foreign language Department in the Amityville Public School District has been busy with a tremendous effort to enable students to become immersed in foreign languages. One needs only to walk the corridors at the school to see that doors, windows, and virtually any other item that can be labeled is adorned with a nametag in another language.
In addition, the department brought to the students a variety of activities to reinforce their skills during the nationally celebrated Foreign Language Week, which took place across the country from March 3 to 7. One of the most enjoyable activities was a poster contest using the national theme, "You've got the world on a string with foreign languages."
