Longtime Amityville resident, Helen D. Dineen

Longtime Amityville resident Helen D. Dineen, who devoted her life to caring for her family, died April 5, 2008 at Broadlawn Manor Nursing Home in Amityville. She was 92.

She was born to Thomas and Susan (Lambert) McGann in Brooklyn, New York on December 9, 1915. In addition to caring for her loved ones, she worked as a decorator for Paula Greenburg Associates in Roslyn.

Mrs. Dineen was a longtime member of St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church in Amityville. She leaves behind her children: Jane Panek and her husband John, Kevin A. and his wife Margaret "Mickey" and Thomas A.; her grandchildren: Maria O'Rourke and her husband John, Mark Panek and his wife Noriko, Susan Abate and her husband Anthony, Kevin Patrick and his wife Danielle and Kensuke Edward Panek. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward A., in November, 2006. Father James Dolan officiated a mass of Christian burrial on April 11, 2008. Father Dolan conducted a prayer service at the funeral home on April 12, 2008 assisted by the Consolation Ministry and members of the family. Interment followed at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
