Dwight Rovery, owner of Rovery Marine and Amityville resident

Longt ime Copi ague resident Dwight S. Rovery, owner of Rovery Marine, died suddenly April 4, 2008 at his place of business in Amityville. He was 64 years old.

He was born July 17, 1943 in Jamaica, Queens to William George and Anita (nee Czaska) Rovery. He served as a sharpshooter for the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

A former electrical engineer, he was currently the proprietor of the boatyard on S. Ketchum Avenue, which the family has owned since 1938.

Mr. Rovery was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Amityville, a gourmet cook and a gardener who spoke fluent Japanese. He is also a winner of the Bay Shore Shark Tournament for landing a 300-pound mako. He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Diane R.; his son, Michael S. of Copiague; his mother, Anita of Amityville; and his siblings: Tom and Vi Bischoff. He was predeceased by his daughters: Michelle and Kristen; his father: George; his best friend: Bob Bischoff; and his mother-in-law: Rena Bischoff.

The Rev. David W. Anglin, pastor, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, conducted a prayer service at the Powell Funeral Home in Amityville on April 8, 2008. A Funeral Service was said at St. Paul's on April 9, 2008 followed by interment in Calverton National Cemetery with Military Honors.
