The Great South Bay Amateur Radio Club (GSBARC), held it annual Hamfest at Fireman's Memorial Park in Lindenhurst April 27. The organization, made up of volunteers, are Ham radio enthusiasts who can provide communications in times of emergencies when electricity is down and other forms of communication, including cellular telephones, are interrupted.
The annual Hamfest provides information to the general public about the work of Ham operators in their communities and the service they provide. Also, in Babylon, the organization works closely with public officials in coordinating efforts in cases of emergency.
