Joseph Reynolds, former Amityville resident

Former Amityville resident Joseph H. Reynolds died March 27, 2008 at Memorial Hospital in Miramar, Florida. He was 59.

Born September 1948 to Leonard Motley and Laura D. (Nathanson) in Danville, Virginia, he later lived in Amityville. During his time in Florida he was a Police Officer at the Homestead Police Department and a lieutenant at the Coral Gables Police Department until he retired.

Mr. Reynolds leaves behind his wife of 33 years, Janice of Southwest Ranches, Florida; his son: George Alan; his aunt and uncle: Corinne and Rod Straehle: and his cousin: Julie Straehle. He was predeceased by his parents: Leonard and Laura.

Rabbi Janice Poticha of Temple Sinai in Massapequa officiated at the funeral service in the Powell Funeral Home on April 3, 2008. Interment followed in Mt. Ararat Cemetary in Farmingdale.
