Irving Doyle, past commander, Captree Power Squadron, in Amity Harbor Retired engineer, inventor and avid boater, Irving W. Doyle died March 21, 2008 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was 96 years old. He was born December 22, 1911 to Carrie A. (DeLeRee) and Mason I. in Brooklyn. He was an engineer in aerospace and defense at Fairchild Camera and Instrument Corporation in Syosset and holds several patents for inventions, such as aerial cameras and electrical gun sights. Mr. Doyle was past Commander of the Captree Power Squadron in Amity Harbor, a socializing and educational boat club. In 1983, he retired with his wife, Helen V. (nee Groucaski) to Sebastian, Florida where he became a member of many clubs such as the Elks, AARP and Barefoot Bay Shuffleboard. In 2004, they moved to Louisville, Kentucky to live with the couple's daughter, Lorraine and her family. He was a dedicated parishioner who attended St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Florida and St. Luke's Episcopal in Kentucky. In addition to his wife, Mr. Doyle also leaves behind his daughters: Janet E., Karen L. Floyd and her husband Kenneth and Lorraine A. Luba and her husband Norman; his grandchildren: Kristen L. Barker and her husband Eric, Kaylie E. Floyd, Colin A. and Christopher W. Luba; his great grandchildren: Pattie M. and Finley C. Barker; his siblings: Virginia E. Thomas, Edwin F. and his wife Anita; and many other family members. He reposed March 24, 2008 at the Pearson- Ratterman Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky. Funeral Services were held on March 25, 2008 at St. Luke's in Anchorage, Kentucky. Visitation in Amityville was held March 25, 2008 at Powell Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Service. Interment followed at Amityville Cemetery.
