APO Joe Slack honored by Bay Village Civic Association

Amityville Village Police Officer Joe Slack, who was recently promoted to Sergeant, was recognized by the Bay Village Civic Association for his efforts in saving a young girl from a fire that broke out at her home at 77 Coles Ave., Amityville on March 3. Without protective gear, Slack scaled a ladder and pulled the girl to safety from the roof.

Slack is shown in photo above at the event with his family. At right, he accepts a plaque from Joan Donnison of the Bay Village Association, as Geri Dempsey and Kathleen Boyle of the Board of Directors look on.
