Patricia McDermott, longtime ASD cafeteria employee

Longtime Amityville resident and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Patricia A. McDermott died March 3, 2008 at her home. She was 73 and had worked as a food server for the Amityville School District prior to her passing.

She was born May 17, 1934 in Queens to Harry and Margaret M. (nee Coghlan) Pettit, she worked for the Amityville Union Free School District for 14 years as a server in their cafeterias. For 58 years, she had lived on Sterling Place in Amityville.

Mrs. McDermott leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Andrew B.; her children: Robert, William, Patrick, Andy, Thomas and Peter; her 16 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Father Richard T. Stelter, pastor, St. Martin of Tours R.C. Church in Amityville, conducted a prayer service at the Powell Funeral Home in Amityville on March 5, 2008. Private cremation followed on March 6, 2008.
