•Captree Power Squadron is holding a Boating Safety course which will teach you how to operate your boat or jet ski confidently and safely. Boat handling, navigation, docking, state boating laws, equipment and personal watercraft are among the topics covered. The course will be held Tuesdays, April 22 and 29 and May 6, 13 and 20, 7 to 9 p.m. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive their New York State ID card required to legally operate a personal watercraft in New York. Participants must be at least 10 years of age. A $40 fee by check or money order made payable to Captree Power Squadron is due at the first class.

•The library's large showcase will feature an exhibit of handicrafts from Africa including fabrics, woodwork and straw weaving. The items were featured in the Natural History Magazine circa 1950.
