William Kastner, 54 resident of Copiague

William "Bill" Kastner, who lived in Copiague for more than five decades and loved spending time near the sea, died March 10, 2008 after fighting leukemia. He was 55 years old.

Born in New York City, he lived on 31st Street in Copiague for 51 years. He spent many years with Boy Scout Troop 284 in his youth and graduated from Copiague schools. Most recently, he worked as a purchasing agent for a traditional medicine company, Oakhurst in Levittown.

Mr. Kastner loved to spend time on his boat and at the beach and was an avid gardener who relished spending time with his family and friends. He was also an avid Nascar fan.

"He was always helpful and so devoted to his family and friends," said his sister, Patricia.

He leaves behind his mother, Mary Louise; his siblings: Kathleen, Michael, Jack, Mary Ellen Gualberti and her husband Anthony and Patricia; his nieces: Jessica, Elizabeth, Sarah and Emily; his great niece, Isabella; and his great nephew: Jordan. He was predeceased by his father, William F.

Mr. Kastner reposed at the D'Andrea Brothers Funeral Home in Copiague on March 13, 2008. Funeral prayers were said on March 14, 2008 followed by interment in St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale.
