Myton reviews Margaret Mead memoir
Several members enjoyed the Anne Tyler book. They felt it was a gentle book, written in the first person, looking back on her life. Others found it simplistic and not a pleasant read. With a Daughter's Eye was not well received by those who read it. It was clear that Margaret Mead was definitely not a mother type, though a good anthropologist. Since a large number of members were not able to attend no one had read The Master Butcher's Singing Club. However, when the synopsis on the back of the book was read, several members felt they would like to read it. Betty Ann Cassero reported on two books that were read in the English class she is teaching. A Space Between Us by Trety Unrigar is about two Indian women, and The Last Shot by Darcy Trey is the story about college basketball and how four boys were used by the system, not to their betterment. Immediately after the discussion, coffee and tea were served with sandwiches, cookies and cupcakes. Refreshments were supplied by Dorothy Main, Jeannette Henderson, Betty Ann Cassero and Caroline D'Antonio.
