Local woman invites college choir to NY

The Concert Choir of Hampton University, Hampton, Virginia performed at Calvary Baptist Church in Jamaica, New York during Black History Month. The choir appeared at the invitation of the Long Island Chapter of the National Hampton Alumni Association, which has approximately 300 alumni throughout the Long Island area, including Brenda H. Turner Morgan, who was born and raised in Amityville and is the daughter of Joe and Cassie Turner of Amityville.

The University's popular choir has been touring the country since 1870. Originally known as the Hampton Singers, the choir is known for performing works of African-American composers and also performs other master works and choral standards.
