Kindergarten student initiates service project
Meghan Bonser attends St. Martin of Tours school in Amityville. She is a kindergarten student who initiated and executed a service project all on her own. She heard about the poor people of Wyandanch who recently experienced a devastating fire in their parish. Meghan sold bookmarks, personally decorated, for $1 each. She sold these bookmarks to the teachers in the school and some students. Meghan raised $68 and presented the money to the principal, Mrs. Razzetti, to be donated to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. This money will be added to the money that the school raised by having a special casual dress day for the same cause. The students normally attend school in their uniform but are allowed to dress casually if they donate $1. The money collected goes to different charities.
