Knights of Columbus #6911 conducts spring drive for our troops

The Knights of Columbus #6911 in Massapequa Park is conducting a spring drive to collect items which will be shipped to our servicemen and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Several businesess have agreed to display drop boxes where donated items can be deposited. The items will be picked up by members of the Council's Adopt-A-Battalion committee. They will pack them and pay the cost of shipping. The committee currently ships to approximately 3,000 military personnel representing all branches of the service.

The drop box locations are IGAVillage Farms , Coldwell Banker and Massapequa Post newspaper on Park Boulevard, Massapequa Park; The Massapequa Post Office on Killian Road and Sunrise Highway; Massapequa Saturn on Merrick Road; Modica Market, 623 Broadway, Massapequa; The Amityville Record newspaper, 85 Broadway, Amityville and the Babylon Beacon newspaper, 65 Deer Park Ave., Babylon.

Items requested by our troops are: travel size toothpaste, alcohol free wipes, global phone cards, travel size shampoo, cookies, crackers, toothbrushes, deodorant, razors, mouthwash, moisturizer, foot powder, snacks, beef jerky, granola bars, Chapstick, gum, hard candy, tuna, snacks, lollypops, tea bags, coffee singles, Crystal Lite Powder Drinks, music CDs, movie DVDs, children's toys, pens, pencils, crosswords, stationery, envelopes, dental floss and peanut butter. Do not send aerosol cans or glass. All items should be alcohol free. Thanks to local generosity, the Committee has shipped over 2,500 cartons of needed items to our troops overseas.
