William Huggler: musician and violin maker

Longtime Amity Harbour and Lindenhurst resident Wilbert "William" Huggler, died March 1, 2008. He was 90 years old.

Mr. Huggler was an accomplished luthier, or violin maker, having studied under a world's leading master, Simone F. Sacconi. He obtained the highest achievement in his profession, an International Gold Medal from The Violin Society in 1976. He was also a devoted musician and golfer.

Mr. Huggler leaves behind his wife, Lois; his children: Ronald and his wife Francesca, Louis, Arthur and his wife Cathy and Ralph; his grandchildren: Renee, Andrea, Gina, Jamie, Erick, Eleonor and Tina; his great grandchildren: Kate, Anthony, Josephine, Will and Harrison. He was predeceased by his son, Robert.

He reposed at the Lindenhurst Funeral Home on March 3 and 4, 2008. A private service was held for friends and family on March 4, 2008 followed by private cremation.
