Edith Bonanno: Amityville homemaker

Longtime Amityville resident Edith Aurora Bonanno, who dedicated her life to her family and home, died Feb. 10, 2008 at Broadlawn Manor Nursing Home in Amityville. She was 87.

Born in July 27, 1920 in Brooklyn to Domenick and Lucy (Guistra) Penna, she lived in Amityville for more than 62 years.

Mrs. Bonanno leaves behind her sons, Richard, Larry, Charles, Robert and James. She is also survived by her siblings, Pat Penna, Emma Mangano and Larry Penna, and by eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Carmelo, in 1997.

A prayer service was held at the Powell Funeral Home in Amityville on February 12, 2008. A private cremation was followed by interment in the Long Island National Cemetery in Pinelawn on Feb. 15, 2008.
